Resting Metabolic Rate Testing - Request an RMR Test
This is your unique number of calories burned at rest. Adding the number of calories burned at rest to 'Lifestyle' and Exercise calories burned provides you with the number of calories you burn per day.
Metabolic testing gives you an exact measurement to allow you to eat to your metabolism. Once the RMR is complete we use the information to calculate your Target Caloric Zones which allows you to eat the maximum amount possible and adjust your weight because your body has told you what it needs.
Target Caloric Zones include a 'Maintenance' Zone, which the number of calories you need to eat to stay at your current weight. A 'Weight Loss' Zone which is the maximum amount of calories you can eat and still lose weight at about 1.5lbs per week. A 'Medically Supervised' Zone where you work with a physician to make dieting effective, as too few calories can cause you to lose muscle tissue, slow your metabolism, deprive you of vital nutrients, and cause you to gain lost weight very quickly.
The test simply requires you to breathe into a mask. The air you breathe is analyzed to determine exactly how much oxygen your body consumes, and this is how your metabolic rate is measured.
VO2 Testing - Request a VO2 Test
Measures your individual cardio fitness. So don't rely on generalized formulas to estimate your training zones. Determine your unique level of fitness based on scientific measurement.
A VO2 test is the scientific way to measure your cardio fitness and maximize the time and benefit of your workout. You work hard at staying in shape so make sure your time and effort are getting you the maximum results!
A VO2 test measures the amount of oxygen your body uses at different exertion levels while you exercise on a bike or treadmill. This is conducted as you breathe through a mask during a short workout.
The recorded information is then used to calculate your Individual Heart Rate Training Zones for recovery periods, endurance training and interval training. These zones are based on each athlete's UNIQUE anaerobic threshold and individual fitness level and genetics, not on age and gender like charts and books.
Functional Movement Screen - Request a FMS
This is a ranking and grading system created to document movement patterns that are key to normal function. By screening these patterns, functional limitations and asymmetries are readily identified.
Basic movement pattern limitations can reduce the effects of functional training, physical conditioning, and distort proprioception (body awareness). At the heart of the system is the Functional Movement Screen Score which helps to target the problem and track progress. The scoring system is directly linked to the most beneficial corrective exercises to restore mechanically sound movement patterns.
Some of the advantages of undertaking an FMS include identifying physical imbalances, limitations, and weaknesses, creating a continuous focus on the fundamentals of movement, creating a functional baseline to mark progress, forming a reliable and reproducible screen with specific markers for movement problems, improving functional fitness and athletic performance, and helping to reduce the potential for training and sports injuries.
