2010 Group Training


* Group Training Session: Sunday, 3/7/2010 @ 9:00am.

Training Time: Please be at Parking Lot by 8:50am for a quick discussion of the workout. Workout will begin promptly at 9:00am, and be finished by 12:00 noon.

Training Activity:

Duathlon Training: 20 minute run on Deerlake Road. Transition to steady aerobic ride to intersection of Meridian and CR12, and return, via Thomasville Road (approximately 32 miles). Transition to a 1.5 mile run after the ride.

No rider gets dropped, and people can peel off the group as they feel the need (please advise coaches if doing this). View As Map My Ride

Bring nutrition and hydration for this workout.

Training Objective:
1. Aerobic Conditioning;
2. Get used to Bike > Run transition;
3. Training for Nutrition.

What to Bring: Bike (tri or road), all cycling gear including helmets, spare tire, inflation device (pump or CO2), bike clothes/bike shoes/gloves, run clothes & shoes, water/sports drink, food. Money if you want to buy food at finish.

1. Development and Growth of bike-related Aerobic Endurance.

Make sure you have suitably warm clothing for this ride!

* Group Training Session: 1/31/2010 @ 9:00am - Aerobic Ride plus Hills.

1. Development of Leg/Hip Strength for Hills;
2. Development and Growth of bike-related Aerobic Endurance;
3. Leg Speed Development.

What to Bring: Bike (tri or road), all cycling gear including helmets, spare tire, inflation device (pump or CO2), bike clothes/bike shoes/gloves, water/sports drink, food. Money if you want to buy food at finish.

Make sure you have suitably warm clothing for this ride!

* Group Training Session: 1/24/2010 @ 9:00am - this will be the first group training session for the 2010 season.

These group workouts will be progressive, so they will start out very easy early in the season and will increase in intensity, and become more difficult, as the season progresses.

Training Activity:

Outdoor Base Training Ride: There will be two rides this Sunday. You can choose whichever best matches your current training level:

Ride #1: Easy (SCR) spin ride to start of CR12 and return, which is about 20 miles. No rider gets dropped, and people can peel off the group as they feel the need (please advise coaches if doing this).

Ride #2: Easy (SCR) spin ride to Meridian Rd via Thomasville Rd and CR12, and return, which is about 31 miles. This is more for those riders who are wanting to add some hill work into their training. Still, no rider gets dropped, and people can peel off the group as they feel the need (please advise coaches if doing this).

A short 1.5M run can be done at the completion of the ride.

1. Development of Bike Leg speed;
2. Development and Growth of bike-related Aerobic Endurance;
3. Getting bum used to seat for longer time periods :)

What to Bring: Bike (tri or road), all cycling gear including helmets, spare tire, inflation device (pump or CO2), bike clothes/bike shoes/gloves, run clothes & shoes, water/sports drink, food. Money if you want to buy food at finish.

Make sure you have suitably warm clothing for this ride!

2010 Races


Half Iron Distance Race Plan:

* New Orleans Ironman 70.3 2010

Location: New Orleans, LO - Sunday April 18, 2010.
Race Distance: 1.2 Mile Swim; 56 Mile Bike; 13.1 Mile Run.

New Orleans Ironman 70.3 is a flat, early season, half iron distance race for those prepping for a full IM race, or for those wanting a solid spring half iron distance race in which to compete.


* Augusta Ironman 70.3 2010

Location: Augusta, GA - Sunday September 26, 2010.
Race Distance: 1.2 Mile Swim; 56 Mile Bike; 13.1 Mile Run.
Race Information: www.ironmanaugusta.com

Ironman 70.3 Augusta will offer athletes the unique opportunity to race in two states, as the cycling portion of this event will take athletes into the great state of South Carolina. This is a great event for a 70.3 PR!
