I have been training with Ian for 6 months, and with his guidance and coaching I have successfully completed one of the toughest Ironman races on the North American circuit - Ironman St George (Utah).
Ian has taken all elements of my training and racing to a level I could only have dreamed of. This year I have PR'd almost every race!
He's helped me drop my half marathon time from 1:55 to 1:46; my 10K time from 50:12 to 46:14, and my 5K time from 23:49 to 22:06. Ian is now coaching me for IM florida where I hope to have a BIG PR.
His dedication to helping you reach your goals is insurmountable, and he works dilligently to provide usable feedback on workouts and adjusts schedules to fit in with my busy lifestyle. Ian has also helped me gain significant physical and mental strength for triathlons. This 'mental strength' has not only helped for racing but it has brought me a new self confidence which I have struggled with before.
Thank you Ian for all your hard work and dedication to your athletes. I look forward to each and every day I train with you.

Ian's coaching style is appropriately firm but friendly and very encouraging. He has a "sixth sense" of what you can do when you're not sure yourself. It was the hardest thing I've ever asked my body to do, but it thankfully delivered and I'm better off as a result. I may not be much faster, but having been able to do an entire 'pre-season' triathlon has totally boosted my confidence.
Carol Berman - 2008 Mexico Camp participant and Triathlete
I’ve been doing competitive sports since the age of 16, and since moving to the US in 2002, have been involved in duathlon and triathlon events.
My issue was that I “muscled” my way through the three different disciplines, especially the swimming. Since school, I had always swum in 50 and 100 meter events, using more brute force and explosive energy than efficient technique.
I learned very quickly that in triathlon this was not going to work. It tired me out very quickly, and I used a lot of energy in the swim leg that was needed for the bike and run splits.
As one that has always trained myself, I hesitated in finding a suitable tri coach, and it was by chance, after trying out other coaches, that I met Ian Briggs.
I found Ian to be a very pleasant, reachable character and straight away I saw that he was very knowledgeable concerning multisport issues, and taught me the way that I expected someone to teach.
There was always explanation, demonstration, and questions…to see if I had understood. He isn’t one of those coaches that always stays on the outside. He doesn’t hesitate to show you what to do, and then guide you through it, which I believe is very important for a good coach. He is one of those rare coaches that really knows what he is on about, and that can do what he is asking you, and doesn’t hesitate to show you!
Thanks to Ian I was able to correct all my issues on swimming. I now do great swim times, use a lot less energy, and am able to get out of the water ready to attack the bike and run splits with a fresh energy reserve. Thanks Ian!

By Doctor's direction to protect my back due to scoliosis, most sports (with the exception of swimming) were denied to me from an early age. For health reasons, and frankly tired of the status quo, I sought Ian's expertise and help.
Under his watchful eyes and through his strategically developed program tailored to my needs, we have been able to significantly strengthen my core and back. This support and regimen is helping me conquer major physical obstacles, which in turn has allowed me to do things I thought I never could accomplish.
Ian's expertise, leadership, detailed attention, care, open communication, and encouragement has made the experience amazing, satisfying, and fruitful. He has created a work-out environment where I feel comfortable, challenged and most of all safe. Today, I am fitter, I have a healthier life and have been able to have great breakthroughs. I've been able to get back into some old favorite sports as well as build-up my confidence and strength to discover new ones.
Our work together is not yet done, and through the process I've found my goals are evolving.

When I first met with Ian about three months ago I hadn't been on a bike in years and my 3 year old daughter could swim better than me. After a few early morning sessions I was doing a mile swim at a time and effectively riding a properly fitted tri bike.
Ian made the transition from experienced Marathon runner to a novice Triathlete a painless and efficient process. I highly recommend his expertise and program.

Thanks for an excellent season! It was a lot of fun--and hard work! From Cozumel to New Hampshire I learned an amazing amount and really enjoyed myself. As always, your coaching was invaluable.
I liked being part of the group and found that support and camaraderie wonderful. Thanks for organizing the team and making it all happen. It was a major accomplishment on your part and I appreciate all of the hard work you put in, not only to train us, but in organizing events, workouts, races, and the web site.
I look forward to another exciting and challenging season!

I started doing triathlons nine years ago, and have never been really good, but kept on persisting. I started training under Ian in March of 2009, I was very skeptical as to how much I could actually improve.
My first Olympic triathlon for the season was only two months later, and my mental focus was not where it should have been as I was fearful of the swim. After the race I questioned why I was even doing triathlons!
Ian and I discussed my fears and feelings, and I decided to change my attitude and we worked on my mental focus. Low and behold Ian trained me to a 35 minute PR at the next Olympic triathlon two months later.
Even better, I was able to complete a Half Iron Distance race in a 12 min PR - even though I had a bike accident the day before the race (racing with an arm splint and pain meds). I finished proud and happy, and a bit sore.
I could not have done all of this without Ian's guidance throughout the past six months.
He is truly an inspiration, and was really able to, not only make me faster, but help me to improve my training and race focus.
I will continue to train under Ian's guidance, as I am a firm believer in training safely and effectively, and with a focused goal in mind - and that's what he is all about!
